Hyperliquid team responds to North Korean hacker rumors
According to a previous report by Zombiet, cybersecurity researcher Tayvano issued a warning on X, stating that the recently acclaimed decentralized trading platform Hyperliquid has been targeted by North Korean hacker groups and calling on the team to take immediate action.
In response to this incident, the Hyperliquid development team Hyperliquid Labs announced on the Discord community platform that as of now, Hyperliquid has not been attacked by North Korean hackers, nor have any types of vulnerability attacks occurred. All user funds are safe and secure. And emphasize that the team attaches great importance to operational security (OPSEC). At present, no party has reported any vulnerabilities, and the team has a vulnerability bounty program and strictly follows the industry's highest security standards.
However, Hyperliquid Labs In the latter half of the announcement, it was further pointed out that someone had previously claimed to be a member of the security team and attempted to contact the team. However, Hyperliquid Labs accused the other party of adding a fraudulent account to the group chat, and the subsequent conversation contained insulting and inappropriate remarks. Therefore, the team refused to cooperate with them. The announcement reads:
Previously, someone claimed to be a member of the security team and attempted to contact Labs. However, it should be clarified that no one has ever accused Hyperliquid of being attacked. The party added a fraudulent account to the group chat and subsequently exchanged insulting and inappropriate remarks. Given the extremely low professional level of the party, Labs has confirmed with a trusted partner and ensured that we are following best security practices
HYPE holders continue to criticize Tayvano
And the community believes that the accused person is Tayvano. Therefore, token holders and communities of Hyperliquid continue to launch attacks and insults against Tayvano. However, most of them know nothing about OPSEC and seem to be just defending their investment portfolio (HYPE).
For example, many people have posted a vulnerability bounty program for Hyperliquid on the internet, accusing Tayvano of reporting any vulnerabilities discovered through the program instead of just talking on X.
However, this so-called vulnerability bounty program is actually not aimed at the current trading platform or cross chain bridge, but at an unreleased EVM product.
Who is Tayvano?
It should be emphasized that, Tayvano(Tay) He is not an unknown person, his real name is Taylor Monahan, and he is the founder of MyCrypto and MyEtherWallet. He has been silently contributing to the memory blockchain industry for many years without seeking any return. Therefore, it can be seen that many industry professionals on the community have also posted articles in support of Tayvano. Dragonfly Capital Managing partner Haseeb Qureshi stated that every white hat in the cryptocurrency industry respects her and everything she has done to protect the security of the industry.
Others, including Coinbase director Conor Grogan, well-known media personality Laura Shin, Abstract developer Cygaar, Paradigm researcher Samczsun, and others, have also posted articles expressing their support.
Significant net outflow of Hyperliquid
Regardless of whether there are vulnerabilities in the Hyperliquid protocol, this incident seems to have shaken the once almost "perfect" reputation of Hyperliquid. According to data from Dune Analytics, on December 23rd, the net outflow of Hyperliquid across the chain bridge reached $250 million, the largest outflow since the protocol was launched.
